Friday we rode the bus to Sandy and got on the trax. We rode to temple square and hiked to the capitol building. I knew it was up hill and a little bit of a walk but I didn't guess how intense it would be. We got there about twenty minutes before the next tour which was good because it took me that long to catch my breath. The kids were amazed at how big and beautiful the building was. They especially liked the chandeliers and murals. Emily said she had been "using the secret" on the bus. She was sure she would get to meet the Governor. When our tour started the guide told us that on the tour before something happened to her that had never happened before. When the tour was in the waiting room outside the Governor's office he came out in between meetings and shook all of the children's hands. The guide said she had never shook the Governor's hand before. Emily whispered to herself that he would be free again when we were there but she had to settle with a photo of herself outside his office. She did get to see the Utah Supreme Court, the House of Representatives, and the Senate. She wants to go up in Jan or Feb when they are in session and watch some proceedings. We ate lunch on the Capitol lawn and walked back to Temple Square. We visited the Beehive house--It has a beehive dome on the top. The Beehive house was the home of Brigham Young, Second President of the church and Governor of Utah. It's a very interesting tour. When we left Sammie said she wanted to live in a house just like that. Saturday morning before I was up she was working on a "blue print" of her dream house-complete with lots of stairs. Some of them actually led nowhere. We rode the Trax back to Sandy and the bus home. We were all really tired but had a good time.
