The girls went on a young women retreat last night. Last week Sammie said, "Retreat" is so much more grown up sounding than "sleep-over." They went to Midway and spent the night in a time-share home. They worked on things for girls camp, sat in the hot tub, and stayed up all night. Emily camp home this afternoon very wired. She said she only slept 31/2 hours last night. I said maybe she could go to bed early, but she insisted she wasn't tired. An hour and a half latter she was crashed on the front room floor. She slept heavily through the stereo, lots of talking, and the telephone.
Since the girls were going to be gone we wanted to do fun things with Steve. Last night he and Barry went to see "Race to witch Mountain," which they both enjoyed. This morning Steve and I went to Orem's first Scout-O-Rama. It was at Scera park and Steve had a great time. I can't find my camera and was frustrated by this more than once. Here are some of the fun things Steve did:
Climbed all the way to the top of a rock wall
Sat in an ambulance and saw a giant needle
Shot a gun
Climbed across a rope ladder
Shot a bow and arrow
Used a hammer and anvil to shape a small heated metal rod into a hook or "S" shape
Learned and practiced how to make an arrow head (out of obsidian with an antler)
Crawled through a simulation of an opening in a cave
Watched some remote controlled airplanes
Raced a pinewood derby car
Drew a short comic strip
Since there are no pictures you can imagine how cute he was.
